In this paper, a technique based on a local-bases approach is introduced to reduce the original nonlinear problem. Firstly, a piecewise-linear surrogate model is obtained through the interpolation of linearized models. Then, the order of the surrogate model is reduced by projecting periodically its dynamics onto an af\ufb01ne subspace. These af\ufb01ne subspaces are computed by balanced truncation of linearized systems of the original model.
