The experiment is carried out in the ISL hyperballistic tunnel. The 8 mm aluminium spheres are accelerated up to 4000 m \u00b7 s\u22121 and performed a decelerated free flight in a tunnel of 21 m. Several measurements, such as velocity measurements, flash radiography and high speed imaging are performed during the free flight to detect and to measure the ablation. In addition, some models are recovered for post-flight analysis. The ablation profiles are extracted using an image post-processing algorithm.
