Two typical mechanisms have already been proposed to achieve mode transition including variable geometry without thermal choke and fixed geometry with thermal choke. However, the former brings about the problem of complex structure and overweight, while the latter faces the challenge of heat regulation and narrow operation range. In this paper, a generic freejet engine has been explored to find a better way to operate in a wider range.
