This paper provides an engineer analysis for panel flutter of a supersonic inlet with the purpose of weight reduction. The supersonic unsteady aerodynamic forces are calculated by using the local piston theory based on CFD method considering 3D effect. A surface spline method is used to transmit structural modes and displacement to aerodynamic models. The panel flutter analysis is accomplished by solving the standard complex eigenvalue problem of the system state-space model. Finally, with the help of mode tracking techniques, a weight reduction target of a supersonic inlet is predicted by analyzing its structural stiffness.
