The main objective of this paper is to present the implementation of a new OpenFSI methodology to strongly couple the structural solver MSC Nastran and the CFD code DLR TAU. To achieve this, a dedicated interface has been created to allow both the exchange of information between the two codes and the time synchronization necessary for a strongly coupled analysis. The framework is demonstrated to be a valuable means to accurately simulate steady and unsteady aeroelastic problems. Numerical results obtained from a simulation of an AGARD 445.6 wing example have been used as a benchmark problem to show the applicability of the framework. This framework has then been used for static and gust calculations for the FFAST wing, which is representative of a modern civil transport wing.
