The paper describes the design of a Static Output Feedback (SOF) controller for gust load alleviation and its evaluation on a wind tunnel model of a regional aircraft. The design of the controller is based on the numerical minimization of the 2 norm of the closed loop system. The optimization is performed using a state-space description of the flexible aircraft which includes also the dynamics of the actuation system and of the sensors. The controller has been evaluated experimentally on a half-span wind tunnel model, in the experimental campaign the robustness of the controller has been evaluated by varying the flight condition.
