Thermoacoustic instabilities are recurrent in ramjets and need to be considered at the design stage to avoid thermal and mechanical fatigue, as well as engine extinction. To integrate this constraint in the design process, reduced-order models of the internal acoustic field and the flame dynamics should be developed. As a first step, two acoustic models relying on a uniform mean flow and small harmonic fluctuations are proposed. The first one is inspired by the state of the art. The second model is an improvement of the first one, introducing a harmonic translation to the acoustic mode shape, replicating the trends observed in previous numerical simulations and experiments. This last ad-hoc model allows a better reproduction of the acoustic mode shape, particularly in the combustion zone, with the correct acoustic frequencies.
